We're delighted to be welcoming "Un-sane" metal clay artist Michael Marx back to our studio for another fun, out-of-the-box workshop! Metal clay is a unique medium that allows makers to create dimensional, deeply patterned, and intricate forms previously most often seen in cast pieces, and Michael is known for his quirky, detailed, sculptural art that pushes the envelope in this terrific material.
In this two-day master class, we will construct unique owl pendants using Project X .999 Flex metal clay. We will start off by making a hollow-form textured base, using layered textures and adding primary facial details and creative embellishments. Next, we’ll explore how to give our owls unique expressions using different methods of creating eyes, eyebrows, and additional details. Finally, we'll finish our creations with the addition of tiny little feet and a hidden bail.
You'll finish and fire your pendant in just two days, and as an added bonus, you'll get 30 days access to the same videos our online participants will get... at no additional cost!
This is an intermediate skills class, and students should have some recent successful metal clay experience under their belts. Everyone will learn some new techniques from one of metal clay's most creative practitioners. And absolutely everything necessary to complete the project is provided in this workshop – all tools, materials, and equipment! Bring a pen and notebook for note-taking and eye magnification if required, but otherwise just come and have fun!
